Sometimes life can get very monotonous, so we occasionally try to change things up a bit and do things a little more exciting than hang out at home and play with toys. David told the boys about model rockets a few months ago and ever since then Luke has asked about getting one of our own and shooting it off. This past week David bought one and he and the boys have spent a few minutes each evening putting it all together and getting it ready. On Saturday we found a great field behind the high school and had a blast (pun intended!). Even I had a lot of fun. I just watched and took pictures but it was so neat to see how high and fast it could go. It was so fun to see how excited the boys were. Luke would count down from ten before each launch and then they would chase after it and try to catch it. On the fourth launch the parachute broke away from the rocket, so the rocket quickly crashed near us but the parachute slowly floated farther and farther away. As David went to look for it the boys were so sweet and crouched down together and said a prayer that Daddy would be OK and that he would be able to find the parachute. I am so glad that both requests happened! It's nice to know that some of the things we are teaching them are actually sinking in!

MoHawk
Peer pressure already! Nicholas has a Mohawk, so of course Luke wants one too. I convinced him that it would be ok to just comb his hair this way and not actually shave the sides. He was ok with that and after about a week preferred to comb it straight.

Coming Soon . . .
That's right, baby #3 due in February!! We are very excited and thrilled to have another little person in our home. I am just about 13 weeks along and for the most part have felt ok. I've had a few really rough weeks, but nothing too serious. Getting this far has been a journey and hasn't been as easy as conceiving with the boys, so I feel very grateful. In the past Luke has always told me that he doesn't want us to have any more children because he doesn't want to share me, so I was very happy that he was actually excited when we told him. I've been babysitting a baby girl and he adores her, so I think she's softened him to the idea of having a baby around. In fact, if we have a girl, he wants to name her after this little girl and if it's a boy he wants to name him Calvin (from Calivn and Hobbes). We'll see . . .
This was about 10-11 weeks . . . I can only imagine how big I'll be at the end!

Kindergarten!
I can hardly believe that I have a child in kindergarten! By the end of the summer though, I think we were all ready for it to happen. It's so dang hot here that it's not even fun to play in water in the back yard, so we've been basically home bound for the past month except little errands here and there. I've been craving some routine and structure for a while, and so far I've really liked it. Anyway, Luke is going to our local public school and after visiting several charter schools I felt like this one would be as good as any other, and since I'm pregnant I want the ease of having him super close. I also want to be able to volunteer in his class and show up to have lunch whenever I want. The school has great ratings with a very active PTSO and we live in a great district, so I'm very happy with it all. His school offers full day kinder, so that's what he's doing! It's definitely been an adjustment for all of us (mostly him) to be gone all day, but he really seems to enjoy it. He says that his favorite school activity is PE and then music class. His favorite helper job is to do the calendar and his best friends are a boy named Alex and a girl named Summer.

Phoenix Zoo
Audrey and I took the kids to the Phoenix Zoo as one last fun outing before school started . . . outside . . . in Phoenix . . . in August! Needless to say, the kid's favorite part was the little wading river. Love living so close to cousins!
